GTBS Goldstar Winners 2011

Cote How Organic Guest House has been awarded a Green tourism Business scheme gold star awards this week. Presented byTony Jupiter and sponsored by Beacon Purchasing, the award was presented at a ceremnony held in London on June 9th as a celebration of Green Tourism. Cote How is now recognised as in the otp 1% of Green businesses throughout the UK.
Cote how was also awarded Runner Up in the carbon Footprint Award.

Cumbria tourism - Sustainble tourism award 2011

Cote how has been shortlisted to the last three Cumbrian businesses in the finals of the sustainable tourism category - sponsored by the Lake district Natioanl Park Authority.
The awards ceremony is to be held at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal on July 7th.

4 Star Gold quality Award from Visit Britain

July 2009 - Gold Award for Cote How Organic Guest House!
After much hard work and huge amounts of investment on improvements to all guest rooms and communal areas, we are very proud to have achieved our 4star Gold Award from Visit Britain.
The Rydal Suite has had a complete make over with a refurbished bathroom complete with re-enamelled victorian bath, oak floor, slate tiling and double walk in shower. The bedroom has had a new super king bed with deeply padded and richly upholstered headboard for comfort. New co-ordinated curtains and soft furnishing.
Local Herdwick 100% wool carpets throughout the whole upstairs of the house.
The breakfast room has had a face lift with a wooden floor and re-decoration.

Sponsored by Friends of the Lake district the Sustainable tourism award is for any tourism business working to maximise their positive impact on the environment and local area/community while communicating their environmental commitment to their visitors.

The winner will demonstrate a proven commitment to sustainable best practice, either through particular innovation that is having a positive long term impact or marked improvement in a given area within the last 2 years.

New 4* Grading for Cote How

Cote how has recently been awarded a 4 star grading from Visit Britain. Whilst part of the house has been graded a five star, we still have some work to do to improve all areas to meet this standard.
We are planning to improve the Rydal Suite bathroom in Dec 2008 and will continue with installing Herdwick wool carpets throughout the upstairs over the spring and summer of 2008.

We have been serving almost 100% organic food for 12 months before finally getting the most coveted accolade of being SA licensed.
We decided to get go down the licensing route as we were wanted to assure our customers that we were truly organic and not making bogus claims.

Cote How was the first tourism business in the whole of the North West of England to achieve this award, scoring a massive 96% on their Environmental Management Audit.
