Cote How lies in the heart of Rydal, which is situated approximately 1 mile north of Ambleside. Rydal is a very special place, steeped with history and natural beauty making this place a favourite spot for visitors of all ages and abilities.

Local places to visit include Rydal Hall, Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage - Home of William Wordsworth for over 30 years, and Rydal Water, Rydal Cave and Grasmere.

Favourite walks include The Fairfield Horseshoe, Nab Scar, Loughrigg, Rydal Cave and a picturesque walk around Rydal Water and Grasmere taking in the famous "Coffin Route".


The River Rothay runs past the house winding it's way from Grasmere, through Rydal Water and onto Lake Windermere, passing the famous Stepping Stones and Weirs.

 

Here at Cote How we love to enjoy the outdoor life and are happy to loan Kayaks, outdoor equipment and offer advice on the surrounding area.

 

David is a former Peak Park National Ranger and a qualified Walk Leader and will be happy to offer advice if you have never visited this area before.

 

We also offer washing and drying facilities, and have plenty of storage room for bicycles, kayaks etc. Please ask if you have any concerns.


Our Tea Rooms are currently open to the Public at the Weekends, with hot homemade food, sandwiches, drinks etc available including packed lunches.
