These fabulous Gold Crests were photographed in March 2008 in the front garden. We have often seen them around the large conifer but never witnessed such a fabulous display. They were totally oblivious to our presence as they displayed for over 15 minutes only a few metres from where we were watching. These are Britain's smallest bird - even smaller than the wren. You can see by the size of the barbed wire they are perching on.
Cote How Red Squirrel - 5th Sept 2008
This Red Squirrel was photographed at Cote How on the 5th Sept 2008, the first sighting of a Red at Cote How for over 10 years.
This is a sure sign that Reds are re-populating the area as a direct consequence of Grey Squirrel control.

This beauty was one of 2 Roe Deer spotted grazing amongst the crags in our back garden in Mid sept 2008.
It is a wonderful joy for our guests to see such magnificent wildlife in our grounds.
Get up early and peep through the curtains the is always alive with wildlife including: Red deer, badgers, rabbits, squirrels birds etc etc. |
We enjoy many wildlife visitors such as badgers, deer, rabbits, sheep and of course many species of birds. The view from our landing window shows the back garden which extends as far as the stone wall in the background and is currently being stripped of Rhododendron to reveal some very interesting crags and Victorian pathways to explore!
Below are a few more common visitors to our garden. All photographed in 2008
Can you name the species? - Roll over a thumbnail to enlarge below |
